GEL was formed in 1996 in an MBO from Frederick Greenwood & & Son, long time manufacturer of components for textile looms. In April 2004, the business of Lonsdale Ltd was purchased - toolmakers and precision engineers. The company now specialises in press-tooling; jigs and fixtures; fabrications; conventional machining from 1-off to 100-off, using lathes, millers, grinding and EDM capability; sheet metal presswork up to 60 tonnes; light CNC milling; light assembly work - riveting and spot welding. in December 2009 the comapany was sold and is now part of the Buffalo Holdings group of companies.
