Laser cutting, tube
Tube laser cutting is a production method that cuts tubes with laser technology.
Tube laser cutting machines cuts tubes with high precision and complex shapes. The workpiece is fixed or fed through the machine and is cut with a laser beam. The laser beam consists of concentrated light of a specific wavelength, which contains enough energy to cut the workpiece.
The cutting machine has normally a fixed laser tool. That means the laser beam does not move and always points at the centre of the tube. Then the material is fed through the machine. There are also 3D tube laser cutting machines. The difference between these and traditional tube lasers is that the laser tool can move along three axis and can therefore cut much more complex shapes.
It is usually the dimensions, that is length, diameter och material thickness of the tube, and the type of material that determines which tube laser is suitable for which job.
