Robotic Welding

Robotic weldingRobotic welding (robot welding) is a production method that uses robots to control a welding torch. It makes it possible to do the welding automatically.

The greatest benefits of automated welding are to increase productivity and precision. A well equipped and programmed robot can weld day and night without interruptions. It makes the welding robot a lot more efficient than manual welding. In addition, a robotic weld can weld every workpiece identically, with the same specifications and dimensions.

Usually, a robot is fitted with a torch. The movements of the robot and at what times it should activate the weld are programmed. This method has been very popular since the 1980's when almost every car manufacturer introduced the process in their factories. Today, a big portion of all industrial robots is for welding. The robot welds can normally do all welding techniques, and the most common are arc welding and spot welding. For more information on these, see "welding".
