Turning, Conventional
Conventional turning (manual turning) is a method for manufacturing cylindrical components.
The lathe rotates a workpiece, which is cut with by a fixed tool bit. The tool bit can be moved parallely to the component in order to work the whole workpiece.
Conventional turning is available at almost every workshop. Bigger workshops are often capable of conventional turning, but do it mostly when it is included in larger orders. However, smaller workshops are usually more interested in small orders, or even one-offs.
If the volumes are bigger or the component's design is complicated, CNC turning is prefered.
