'Somewhere Beneath the Sea'- Fujitsu Awarded a Turnkey Contract for Work on Submarine Cable System

17 September 2007 10:05 Company Profile

FLAG Telecom, a subsidiary of India’s Reliance Communications, has awarded Fujitsu a turnkey contract for work on a submarine cable system linking countries around the world.

Under the contract, Fujitsu will construct a total of 10,000km of fibre optic cable systems that form part of the FLAG Next-Generation Network (NGN) between France and Egypt, and between India and Hong Kong.

Fujitsu has also received a letter of intent from FLAG for two additional system segments between Japan and the US West Coast, and between India and Kenya.

The additional contracts will almost double FLAG’s existing network length, spanning 115,000km when they are all completed, and will make FLAG the world’s largest IP network with submarine cable systems.
