Strip forming is the process of forming a strip of sheet metal into a required shape. It shares many of its characteristics with wire forming and mainly involves the bending, cutting and welding of sheet metal strips, with particular focus often put on complex bends. Usually all necessary processes can be undertaken by a strip forming supplier under one roof.
Strip forming is a popular process across many industries, such as industrial machinery, electronics and consumer products to name but a few. The materials used can vary, but include mild steel, aluminium, stainless steel, carbon steel and copper.
For simple requirements, strip forming is a cost-effective and straightforward process, generally with short lead times. However, in the case of more complex shapes, additional tooling - and therefore extra costs - may be necessary
