Airborne Systems Limited, a subsidiary of HDT Global designs and manufactures through its metal division high quality, precision metal components for the parachute, aerospace and defence industries, as well as for others sectors. We offer an extensive range of services, from a concept and manufacturing solution through to build to print manufacturing, benefiting from 3,300 sq m (35000 ft) of modern facilities. Our manufacturing processes include milling, turning, pressing, tooling manufacture, large and light fabrication and assembly and finishing. Our wide range of processes gives our customers flexibility and optimised productivity for a wide variety of components.

With over 50 years experience and the reputation as the world leading company in the development and manufacture of aerial delivery systems for the world armed forces, Airborne Systems, a UK MoD accredited design authority ensures that the highest quality in design and manufacturing processes is achieved every time.

Products and Services

Airborne Systems offers an extensive range of services from engineering to manufacturing.
Our mechanical Design, Development and Consultancy Engineering Services including:
- Design to specification for systems and components, in any material
- Design support from product conception to end-of-life, including obsolescence management
- Programme management of global system trials
- Reverse/re-engineering solutions
- Generation of drawings, bills of materials, and specification documentation
- Issuance of design certification and supporting documentation

A wide range of tools and techniques are used to ensure that products and manufacturing processes meet some of the most stringent quality requirements whilst offering design improvement, cost optimisation as well as shortening of the all-important time-to-market. These include:
- Stress analysis, including linear and non-linear, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), as well as conventional stressing techniques.
- FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) on the design as well as on the production process
- FMECA (Failure Mode, Effect and Criticality Analysis)
- Safety critical components
- Application of System Safety Engineering
- A range of environmental testing

Plant and Equipment

Airborne Systems range of processes includes:
- CNC milling and turning centres in various capacities, from small precision part to large metal sheet. – a detailed list available on our website.
- A range of automated vertical presses, as well as smaller fly presses
- A tooling workshop to manage the manufacture and maintenance of all tooling ensures minimum tooling down-time
- Large fabrication and assembly including sheet metal fabrication, welding, riveting, drilling
- Light assembly area for precision assembly of small to medium size components including clean room environment, intricate assembly, hand forming.
- In-house finishing capabilities including fettling, polishing and linishing, roto-surface finishing, aqua bead blasting, paint spraying in a clean controlled-temperature environment, part marking. Approved sub-contractor base used for special requirements.
