Profiling specialists Laser 24 managed to recoup their annual membership fee within two weeks of joining Qimtek, thanks to a string of project awards from steel product manufacturer United Construction & Manufacturing.
Before joining the Qimtek network, Laser 24 had reached out to work with United Construction & Manufacturing; however, Qimtek membership helped to kick-start the relationship. ‘Using the Qimtek membership, we were able to win our first project with UCM,’ said Jo Miller from Laser 24. ‘We knew we would be an ideal match, as we offer a quick turnaround with no compromise on quality - something that UCM requires when outsourcing bespoke part production.’
Once Laser 24 had completed the first job for United Construction & Manufacturing, the two companies began to work together on a regular basis. Between January and November 2019, Laser 24 had completed over 42 projects on UCM’s behalf, with the latter extremely impressed with the quality of Laser 24’s service.
‘Laser 24 have been a really good supplier,’ United Construction & Manufacturing reported. ‘They provide a quick service that really suits our business.
‘Their quality has also been excellent - any errors have been fixed straight away, with the items re-sent practically the next day.’
However, it’s not just Laser 24’s work that has impressed United Construction & Manufacturing. They have also found their level of customer service to be an asset, taking the guesswork out of their subcontract projects. ‘We’ve been really pleased with Laser 24’s communication,’ UCM explained. ‘They have kept us informed via telephone calls and emails at every stage.’
Looking to the future, both Laser 24 and United Construction & Manufacturing are keen to keep working together, as well as continuing to use the Qimtek network for their respective business needs. Alongside a range of profiling processes, Laser 24 also offers both machining and fabrication services - a sizeable portfolio that will benefit a variety of buyers.
‘Qimtek opens doors for us that we wouldn’t necessarily be able to get through otherwise,’ said Jo Miller at Laser 24. ‘The lead is there for us to progress - you have to work hard to win the initial job, but we found that the more effort you put in, the better the reward.
‘When we initially joined Qimtek in January 2019, we set ourselves a target to recoup our annual membership fee within three months. Two weeks later, we achieved that and much more since.
‘We have learned a lot through our membership and embraced the challenge. We now have a fantastic working relationship with our buyers.’
From a sourcing perspective, United Construction & Manufacturing have also found the Qimtek network invaluable. ‘Qimtek’s sourcing service has helped us to find lots of great suppliers that we wouldn’t have found ourselves,’ they explained. ‘It’s also useful to have another port of call if we experience problems with a supplier.
‘We would rate Qimtek’s sourcing service nine out of ten, because nobody’s perfect!’
