Manufacturing Processes - Extrusions

Extrusion is a manufacturing moulding process that is used to make products like pipes, curtains tracks and rods.

In the moulding process, granulates melt into liquid and is forced through a die (a customised mould) forming a long tube shape. This shape (known as extrusion) is then cooled and forms a solid shape.

Shapes created from extrusion moulding include T-sections, U-sections, square sections, I-sections, L-sections and circular sections.  Extrusion is often confusion with injection moulding except that during extrusion, a long continuous shape is produced.
