World Class Engineering Solutions

ndustrial Process News is proud to present Thebus Engineering with the highly regarded Precision Engineering Company of the Month profile.

Thebus Engineering, part of the award-winning OMS group, has been providing comprehensive, cost-effective and practical engineering solutions for over 30 years. The combination of sophisticated machinery and richly experienced personnel, along with a refined focus on excellent customer service, staples Thebus as a stand-out company in this widespread industry.

The Thebus team collectively shares over 100 years of experience within the oil and gas, aerospace, automotive, mining, defence, medical and pharmaceutical sectors. All of their highly qualified specialist engineers can demonstrate an all-embracing knowledge of fabrication and machining techniques in a multitude of materials, having worked extensively with aluminium, steel, stainless, tool steel, plastics and composite materials in the past.

“What we can offer is top level customer service,” Peter Day, Chief Technology Officer at Thebus, explained. “Many engineering companies are so focused on the practical side that they miss out on providing what is one of the most important aspects of a business – great company-customer relationships. Here at Thebus we take the time to fully understand individual needs, matching our skills to suit each client.

“We can talk through everything with you, taking into consideration all details (including drawings), and then we work up the most effective solution for you. We can make prototypes or undergo testing, or get straight into the assembling and utilisation of equipment; either way, we will be there to assist you from conception to completion.”

Thebus has worked in association with a whole range of clientele, from multi-national blue chip companies and esteemed contractors to local businesses, start-ups and entrepreneurial inventors. Their extensive customer base includes Technip, GlaxoSmithKline, Saipem, GSK, BAE Systems, K2 Associates, MBDA, Trucklite and Medisafe UK Ltd.

“Overall, we are incredibly easy to do business with,” Peter summarised. “We have great facilities, capabilities and heaps of experience, and place a direct focus on good communication, hard work and high quality. We have an incredibly skilled workforce who prioritise cleanliness and the maintenance of equipment, which means our trusted machinery can operate in an environment allowing us to maintain extremely high standards.”

The company recently relocated to a notably larger site on the outskirts of Stansted in Essex. Upsizing was necessary in order to better facilitate the growing industry demand, and moving to the M11 Business Link enabled Thebus to do so comfortably and effectively. The business has since invested heavily in plant, people, a brand new turning centre and fully calibrated Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), which all help to generate a vast array of products to an incredibly high standard.

When discussing future plans, Peter concluded: “Our aim is to continue growing by diversifying into other markets; OMS principally focuses on oil and gas, but Thebus has the strength to adapt into several industries. We want to reach out to new clients and explore the use of new materials and techniques in engineering, and concentrate on further honing our services in precision, aviation and assembly.”
