Process: Selective Laser Sintering - SLS

Overview

By utilising a laser to sinter powdered metal, ceramic, or glass, selective laser sintering machines are able to create solid components. Used for both production and prototyping purposes, selective laser sintered components can often be found in aerospace and automotive applications, with the medical sphere also adopting SLS techniques. Within the selective laser sintering process, a 3D CAD file is used to instruct the laser to focus on predetermined points, through which it coheres the material into the required design.

The attached plungers and hoppers will be used as part of a doughnut fryer for the food & beverage industry. Quotes are currently sought for their production, on behalf of a company that outsources in excess of £20,000 worth of engineering work annually. The requested price breaks range from 5 to 20 off across the set, for which there is an immediate order to place. The ongoing nature of the work means that the successful supplier wins not only the job in question, but also a new long-term customer.

  2. Drawings count: 3

This company has a new design of the attached window lever components for the construction industry and is looking for initial quotes for 200 off and 400 off using stainless steel, manufactured using 3D printing. Although the SLS process is shown as the process required, the buyer is open to other 3D printing methods if deemed more suitable. This project is currently at quotation stage, but when full production is in place, this will lead to orders of an estimated 2000-3000 units per year. IMPORTANT: There is a non-disclosure agreement running with this enquiry. Please print this off, complete ALL sections, sign and date it and return the page to sourcing@qimtek.co.uk or fax 01256 394600. Once received, all drawings and documents will be released to your account.

A supplier is sought to produce a selection of 3D printed ABS components which are to be used in the production of composite materials. The client is open to all methods of additive manufacture; however, SLS is the process suggested by the client. There is an order to place, which could lead to both ongoing and additional work following this enquiry. IMPORTANT: There is a non-disclosure agreement running with this enquiry. This client is looking for a supplier to 3D print these new designs of dimpled shim in two sizes, which are to be used within the automotive industry. After this initial enquiry, there is additional potential for repeat orders next year as well. Please note that ISO 9001 accreditation is preferred for this enquiry, but it is not essential.

This manufacturer of hand tools is looking for a production partner to 3D print two different rubber lengths on their behalf. Quotes are required for 1 off and 2 off of each part and it is imperative that suppliers are able to produce an accurate end product. The lengths will be used within lifting tools, comprising a portion of the £40,000 that the client spends annually on bespoke plastic and rubber parts.

Having previously had the attached item extruded, this manufacturer of beverage equipment is looking to expand their range of products by introducing a titanium line. Therefore, they require quotes to have this design sintered in accordance with the drawing attached. As well as having an immediate order to place, the client has advised that this will be ongoing work, making it a great fit with suppliers that are looking to supplement their long-term customer portfolio.
