GW Martin is a precision manufacturer, supplying a complete CNC machining service to provide components to the Defence, Automotive, Medical, Electrical, Vacuum and Filtration sectors. In addition to our core CNC machining service we offer assembly, stock holding and management of sub contract treatments as a complete service.
The company was established in 1959, and continues to invest in the very latest technology, offering its clients a cost effective and premium design for manufacture service to assist in product development. GW Martin invests heavily in its people. Whether it be skilled machinists, design experts, quality specialists or our sales team, we understand the value every member of the team contributes to the company. Our manufacturing facility occupies 25,000 square feet on its own 13-acre freehold site, at Eastleigh in Hampshire.
GW Martin provide our clients with a precision, high quality CNC manufacturing service. Our CNC machining capability includes multi axis, twin spindle mill-turn machines from Index, Mazak, Miyano and Citizen, multi spindle volume manufacturing and sliding head capability. We also have a range of single spindle turning centres from Hitachi Seiki, Doosan and Hardinge.
Our CNC milling capabilities include Bridgeport machining centres and a Fanuc Robodrill. This is all backed up by the latest EdgeCam CAD CAM programming/modelling system and quick change tooling to maximise efficiency.

Design for Manufacture
Design for Manufacture (DFM) has been around for many years, and is often referred to as value analysis or cost reduction systems. The general principle involves placing conditions on suppliers that guarantee a reduction in selling price, year on year, over the term of the contract.
The supplier can achieve this in two ways:
• Reduce manufacturing costs,
• Introduce design changes in the product, with the approval of the customer
By engaging with our customers, and ensuring a two-way conversation, GW Martin has been employing this methodology for many years now.

Quality Control and Inspection

An internationally recognised Quality Management System in accordance with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001:2008, comprehensive Inspection facilities and the use of applicable improvement techniques combine to ensure effective Quality assurance. To compliment our extensive machining capability, we have dedicated assembly facilities for sub-assembly work as part of our complete service. This allows us to offer our customers the ability to assemble multiple parts in one location, thus eliminating the need to involve many suppliers. This air conditioned clean room allows us to offer:

• Specialist Packaging Containers
In addition to supplying our customers with completed projects, we have the capability to hold stock on site. This benefits our customers who can take advantage of manufacturing economies of scale, and call off stock on demand and to a schedule.
Our dedicated Material Store has bar and pallet racking for storage of raw material and finished components. This is supplemented with component storage to handle customer stock and bought in components for assemblies. This enables us to provide:
• Quick order turn around
• Complete kitting service
• Stock holding for scheduled call offs
• Ability to handle sub-assembly components
One of the key features of our complete manufacturing service is the approved Supplier Program. We believe in specialising in what we do best and using our ‘best in class’ suppliers for special services such as:

- Zinc, Chrome, Anodising, Hard Anodising, Cold Chemicals Blackening
- Painting, Masking
- Metal Polishing, Vacuumed Blasting
• Heat Treatment

Our approved supplier list boasts NADCAP, CAA and ISO approvals in addition to an extensive variety of third party accreditations in all sectors of industry such as Aerospace, Automotive and Defence.
This all adds up to a complete quality precision manufacturing service from one supplier saving our clients time and money by reducing their supply chain and reassuring them that we are taking full responsibility for the finished product.
Our long term relationships with some of the largest defence companies in the world have given us the experience and skills to manufacture components and assemblies to the rigorous standards set by this industry.
We provide a vast range of precision components and assemblies in medium to high quantities to order on a monthly call off year on year. We work in various materials including steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, brass, aluminium, plastics and many more.
The Aerospace sector places unique demands on precision manufacturers. Our ability to offer design for manufacturing support and to take the finished CAD file model and convert it into a CNC program ready for production quickly, positions us well to compete in this sector.
We have been providing the fast growing automotive sector for many years. Our CNC Multi Spindle and Sliding Head section can produce extremely high volumes of components accurately and fast. We have the ability to produce 50,000 parts, inspected, cleaned, packed and delivered to your facility in record time. The Automotive market is moving fast and so are we!
Our experience in the Medical market spans 20 years, with the recent addition of the new Index C200 mill turn machine we can now compete in the high value complex parts medical market. The Index C200 is used by most of the prime medical implant manufactures and we have invested in the same technology to offer a complementary service.
The fast paced commercial sector requires a responsive service and a quick turn around. Our flexible approach to manufacture is designed to meet this. In particular our experience working with electrical, vacuum and filtration clients demonstrates our ability to manage short orders and a varying delivery schedules taking full advantage of our stock holding facilities.
