Harlow Group offers comprehensive sheet metal fabrication services from design and manufacture to finishing and assembly.

At the Harlow Group, we can receive your custom drawings in a wide range of formats, from technical drawings to Solid Model files, together with 3D CAD formats such as DXF, and complete models in STEP or IGES. We can manage your new product through the entire life cycle from initial concept, design and development, to final production and delivery. We understand that our clients have cost challenges and increased customer expectations.

At the Harlow Group, we use our experience and expertise to turn your vision into reality – as quickly as possible. We also offer a design for manufacture workshop for our clients to highlight where cost is added and how it can be challenged.

Fiber Laser

We have introduced new generation laser processing using fibre technology. Both machine and beam source are developed by AMADA, providing perfectly synchronized components for optimum performance. This increases the cutting range – including copper, brass and titanium, in addition to the normal materials we process. Fibre lasers have the added benefit of superior edge quality, thus improving safe handling and providing a reduction in secondary deburring operations.

Laser/Punch combination

The EMLcombination machine combines the fast hit rates and forming capabilities of a punching machine, with the shape cutting flexibility of a laser system. This provides unrivalled productivity for complex sheet metal components. The machine is equipped with self-load capability, for lights out manufacturing 24/7.

This innovative machine combines high speed production, impressive reliability and numerous cost and process improvements. Other features include part marking, multi tapping device and advanced forming features.

The Harlow Group use a comprehensive range of both hydraulic and electric Brake-Presses. This enables us to bend parts in a variety of formats, from the simplest to the most complex, precisely and cost-effective every time.

With 8 welding bays and capacity to weld mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium we can advise the best and most cost effective method of joining metals available. Once welded, if required, your product can be linished (polished) clean to provide a blemish free finish for further treatments such as plating, wet paint or powder coating.

Our capabilities include:

•Oxy / Acetelyn

•Aerospace Approved Coded Welders

Our machining center complements our fabrication service by providing high quality, precision products for the aerospace, medical, marine, communication and associated industries.

With a highly skilled workforce and investment in the latest technology our customers benefit from a reliable and speedy service. Supported by our AS9100 quality assurance accreditation the cell is maintained through all stages of manufacture. The facility can produce parts in a variety of materials including copper, aluminium, steels and plastics.

We operate a dedicated finishing and  assembly department that can be configured to suit your specific product requirements. The Harlow Group has experience in all key industries such as aerospace, automotive, and medical with facilities offering specialist coating services for components of all sizes and complexity, including powder-coating, wet painting, silk screening and plating.
Product finishing is not only a great way to add an aesthetic appearance but it is also provides a coating to protect components from the environment and corrosion.
All our finishes are fully RoHS compliant, ensuring materials used are free from all hazardous substances to the latest EU standards.

With years of in-house experience producing mechanical assemblies, we are able to provide a versatile and competitive solution that delivers both knowledge and competitiveness to our clients.
We operate dedicated mechanical assembly department that can be configured to suit your specific product requirements. The department can offer a kitting service together with your own despatch paperwork and logistics management.

It may come as a bit of a surprise to those that know us as a sheet metal fabricator, that a core part of our business is painting plastic components.
Over many years we have been involved in the process of refurbishing plastic components to a high standard.

New Machine Centre Aids Total Project Management

At HGL we pride ourselves on offering our customers a total package of support. From first off prototypes and pre-production runs via our Alpha Cell new product introduction process, through to full batch volume production.

To further support this we have recently introduced two new state of the art 3 axis YCM milling machines into our machine centre which give us the ability to produce complex machined parts quickly and cost effectively.
