Our workforce consists of highly skilled engineers with many years of experience, who specialise in the operation of a variety of CNC machines. Based in East Leeds, there are three major roads in the vicinity – the M1, A1 and M62. This provides ease of access and fast transportation throughout the UK. Our workforce consists of highly skilled engineers with many years of experience, who specialise in the operation of a variety of CNC machines. Using high end CAD/CAM software, we are able to take a concept sketch, create a 3D computer model using high-end CAD software, which can then be used with CAM software.

CNC TURNING
KB Technologies utilise modern CNC machining centres to enable the sub-contractual machining of components from one-off prototypes to high production runs in a range of materials

  • Autonomous part production

Our skilled team are experienced in working with varying grades of aluminium, stainless steels, titanium, plastics, brass and copper.

CNC MILLING
Using modern ‘4-axis’ CNC vertical milling machines we can machine a wide range of materials such as aluminium, mild steels, stainless steels, plastics, brass, copper, and titanium.

  • 4-axis capable for the rapid machining of complex parts
  • Renishaw Wireless Probing System for accurate machining
  • Machining envelope (mm) = x:750, y:300, z:400, a:200mm diameter

LASER ENGRAVING & MARKING
Our new fibre laser enables us to now offer a ‘one-stop’ machining and laser marking service, with benefits such as reduced lead times and cost.
We have the ability to either laser mark or laser engrave text or images onto a wide variety of materials, including:

  • Deep engraving of all metals and plastics
  • Black marking of bare metals (stainless steel, aluminium, titanium, brass, copper)
  • White marking of anodized metals
  • White marking of coatings (e.g. Powdercoat, Cerakote)
  • Bleached markings onto plastics

LASER CUTTING
Our CO2 CNC laser cutter allows us to cut and engrave materials such as:

  • Perspex
  • Wood /MDF
  • Fabrics

Unfortunately, the laser cutter cannot cut metals.

3D SCANNING
Using state of the art, high definition, structured light scanning, KB Technologies are able to offer a 3D scanning service to allow rapid reverse engineering and 3D model creation of existing objects.

Key features include:

  • No minimum / maximum part size
  • Textures can be scanned to create coloured 3D models.
  • Estimated one-million vertices per 100mm2 area
  • +/-0.2mm accuracy
  • Output files: .obj, .stl, .ply
  • ‘in-house’ scanning

CAD-CAM
Our high end CAD-CAM facilities use the latest version of  Solidworks, AutoCad  and  BobCAM to produce detailed 3D models, drawings and CAM toolpaths.

The combination of CAD programmes allows us to take customer drawings ranging from hand drawn sketches to importing customers own 3D models, which can then be imported into CAM where we create code for the CNC machines for the manufacturing of components.

Preferred file extensions are .dxf, .step, .dwg, .iges, .stl but can also be in a wide range of other extensions.

Simulated machining within BobCAM allows us to verify that the toolpaths produced will machine the components correctly before any material is actually cut, thereby reducing lead times and costly mistakes. All our software is kept up to date to the latest available and installed on high specification computers for reliability.

  • Rotational (a) axis for engaving around a circumference (100mm diameter)

CO2 LASER

  • Deep laser engraving / cutting into all non metals
  • Machining envelope (mm) = x:600 , y:400 , z: 300

3-phase, Hydraulic bandsaw

  • Cutting envelope (mm) = x:400 , y:250

3D Scanner
