Our purpose designed factory, has an impressive design / manufacturing facility which has grown progressively over time to incorporate the latest technology in wood machining and assembly which includes three CNC (computer numerical controlled) machines capable of mass-producing components which utilise drilling / veining heads on each machine for additional fine detail work.

Our design team at Kontoor are highly experienced in the manufacture of cabinets and bespoke work, using CAD /CAM software (computer aided design/manufacture) for designing and eliminating problems prior to the manufacture of components.

If you have an idea for a product or an existing product but do not have detailed drawings, do not be put off by this, our design team will be delighted to meet you and discuss your requirements and help you to produce your product to the best standard possible.  We are happy to supply a prototype of your product which can then be modified to make sure the final product is suitable for your requirements.

The company layout is seamlessly split into several area’s which merge to form a considerable manufacturing environment, these are listed below:

Warehouse / forklift capabilities to accept materials which can be kept in storage until required for production.

We have several machines which include – computer saw / radial saw / circular saw which enable us to do all the initial preparation of sheet material.

We have three impressive CNC machines.  Each has grown in size to enable us to accommodate new projects and be flexible regarding work in which we can carry out. each has 4 cutting heads and several drilling functions.  These machines have the capability to cut up to 20metres per minute and take full sheets at 3 metres square.

Point to point drilling machines with drill, glue and dowel capabilities.

With our range of machinery including upright routers and spindle moulders, combined with a selection of tooling and highly skilled machinists, manual work is used where CNC machinery is not suitable.

Kontoor has an excellent spray shop facility for painting and lacquering. Painted finishes can be a simple matt black or a complex multi-coloured stipple effect. We offer enamel painting for a durable finish with a textured look.

Where painted edges are not acceptable, the usual approach is to apply edging of some sort. Kontoor has all the required facilities to apply a range of edging including iron-on edging, T-section edging, and PVC edging.

Our fitters can fix any required components prior to assembly. This is particularly helpful where access to fit these components is limited after assembly.

Where assembly is required, Kontoor can employ the most suitable method including glue & pin construction, manual clamping, and electronic press machinery capable of up to 3500Kg equivalent weight.

All products produced at Kontoor are cleaned to remove dust, excess glue, overspray paint etc. This is done prior to packaging and dispatch.

Kontoor has a number of QA (Quality Assessment) procedures in place to ensure that all products are produced consistently to the highest possible standard. These checks are carried out by members of the design and development team, the people who have worked closely with the product at the design and development stage. Any faults found are noted on a quality assessment, and where possible resolved immediately. Other faults or causes for concern are also noted and remedied prior to the next production run, while implementing any product revisions.

Checks are carried out prior to assembly (dry check), immediately after assembly (wet check), and near the end of the production run (random check).

Products can be either delivered by or collected from Kontoor. Most orders will be delivered by Kontoor lorry shortly after cleaning. Most orders are dispatched a short time after cleaning. Where needed, Kontoor can store products for a number of days prior to dispatch.
