    Machining-CNC Machining, Low Volume

This new company to Qimtek has requested quotes for a D-shaft to be cut into the end of a free-issue shaft, as shown on the drawing attached to this enquiry. Quotes are required for 2 off. Lead time is of the most importance; their current supplier has a machine breakdown, so they are looking to increase their supplier base and require a quick turnaround on this initial enquiry. Further work is also available, so this will be a great opportunity to work with a new, regular client from the offshore industry.

  2. Drawings count: 2

    Machining-Turning, High Volume

This client, a company specialise in hardware manufacture , are looking for quotes for the attached shoulder screws with three different screw head options: slotted, Pozidrive and hex/Allen key. These are usually ordered in monthly batches of 2000, with batches reaching up to 4000 off at peak times. Quotes are required for 2000, 3000 and 4000 off - the buyer has stated that the first batch will be ordered after an initial sample of 2-5 screws has been tested and approved. A target price of around 40p has been requested, or less if possible, per screw. This enquiry is a fantastic opportunity to work with a client who requires regular large volumes of screws and fasteners, and once a relationship has been established, this could also lead to additional work of similar ilk.

  3. Drawings count: 1

    Profiling-Laser Cutting

With an annual spend of over £100,000 on bespoke fabrication work, this design and installation company has an immediate order to place for a mild steel grill plate which will be used within the electronics industry. Quotes are sought for 8 off to be laser cut, with either a painted or powder coated finish. Because their current supplier has closed their business, delivery lead time is of most importance for this enquiry. Once a relationship is established, this could also lead to future similar work, making this a great opportunity to work long-term with a new client.

  4. Drawings count: 2

This company outsources over £50,000 of forging work per year and is looking for quotes for 3000 off of the attached H-piece, which will be called off in 3 separate orders of 1000 each throughout the year. This is because the current supplier will soon no longer be making these parts, so a new supplier needs to be found. Made from carbon steel, the hot forging process is required, along with a zinc finish. Pricing and quality is of utmost importance for this enquiry and will lead to repeat orders due to the annual requirements involved. This volume has also been estimated to increase due to client demand, so will lead to higher annual quantities going forward, although the actual number has not been confirmed at this time.

  5. Drawings count: 1

    Machining-Machining, Plastics

This buyer, who is new to Qimtek, is looking for a supplier to make the attached roller which will be used within industrial machinery. An inspection report is also required for the splining aspects of these adaptors. Although this project is currently at quotation stage, once the order is placed, this could also lead to repeatable work going forward.

  11. Drawings count: 1

    Fabrication-Light Fabrication (under a tonne)

This company is looking for the manufacture of an oil cooler, using copper pipe and cold rolled steel plate. This will be used as a cooling element for a gearbox within industrial machinery. This project incorporates elements of tube/pipe bending, laser cutting and drilling, with quotes required for 1 off. This is a legacy part that is needed on a one-off basis, making it an ideal opportunity to fill short-term capacity.

  12. Drawings count: 1

    Machining-Turning, Low Volume

This company is looking for a new supplier to make the attached stainless steel tubes, which will become cell holders for use within industrial machinery. This is usually done in-house but due to being over capacity, the client is now looking to outsource this work going forward. Accuracy and quality is very important; the client has confirmed the ID and OD measurements given need to be exact, with no sharp edges or surface scratches visible on the end products. Quotes are sought for 25 off at this time, with similar volumes required on an annual basis.

  13. Drawings count: 1

    Machining-Turning, Low Volume

This company is looking for a supplier to make the attached copper cylinder heads, which will be used within industrial machinery. Quotes are required for 2 off at this time. The client has confirmed that an early quote will secure a better chance of success, due to the urgent nature of this enquiry. The client is happy to accept quotes for complete supply and/or free-issue copper material - please confirm this within your quotation. Because of the urgency of the quotation period, should a suitable quote come in quickly, this enquiry will be awarded early.

  14. Drawings count: 4

Sheet Metal Forming-General Sheet Metal (2mm to 6mm)

This Qimtek member is looking for a supplier to make the attached plates from mild steel, with quotes required for 200 off of each. The successful supplier can expect to receive repeat orders of the same quantity on a quarterly basis. Quality and good value are both the most important considerations within this enquiry and once a relationship has been established, further projects could be made available in addition to this ongoing requirement.

  15. Drawings count: 1

    Profiling-Plasma Cutting

This new client is looking for a supplier to profile UK maps from fine limit sheet metal, ranging from 0.5mm to 1mm thick, which will be finished in-house and used to create personalised gifts on sale to the general public. Pricing is vitally important, and the client is very happy to work with the chosen supplier to discuss the most suitable process to use, whether that's plasma or water jet cutting or another process; the best material to use, as well as the material thickness to get the best result. An initial order will be placed for 1 off, with a view to placing an order of approximately 30 off once the initial sample has been tested, with more orders to be placed on an ongoing basis should the end product sell well.

  16. Drawings count: 1

    Machining-Turning, Medium Volume

This company has a requirement for 150 off aluminium inserts, which are to be made using turning, drilling and chamfering processes. The client has advised that the material specification and finishing requirements are critical and they cannot accept any alternatives. A high-quality end product is important, along with pricing and reliable delivery. The timescales for delivery can either be for all 150 off, or a part order of 50 off with the balance to follow shortly afterwards. Because this company's own machine shop is over-capacity, they are now looking to outsource this part, which will lead to annual volumes of 150 off once a relationship has been established.

  17. Drawings count: 1

    Fabrication-Light Fabrication (under a tonne)

Destined for end use within the automotive industry, these locking pins are to be made from mild steel, on behalf of a company that spends over £45,000 per year on bespoke fabricated designs. Quotes are required for annual volumes of between 4000 off and 16,000 off depending on the size of pin. Due to the large quantities involved, the client has advised that a KAN-BAN solution would be advantageous, but not essential. Please advise within your quotation. The client is ideally looking to place a blanket order and call off quantities when required, but is happy to discuss alternatives. This enquiry is a fantastic opportunity to fill long-term capacity with a new client.

  18. Drawings count: 6

    Machining-Machining, High Precision

With an annual spend of over £30,000 on subcontract machining, this company seeks a new supplier to manufacture these parts, leading to regular orders of these and similar designs going forward. For this initial enquiry, they are looking for 2 sets of 4 off (8 off in total) high precision machined jaws, and 1 off mount scroll, complete with 176 teeth, which will also suit members with high precision gear cutting capabilities. The client is outsourcing this work as a result of a change in business strategy. Accuracy of tolerances, quality and value of all these parts is critical, and once a new supplier is found, this will lead to regular, repeat orders for these sizes and for different sizes as well, therefore it will make an ideal opportunity for those seeking a new client for a long-term relationship.

  19. Drawings count: 2

    Fabrication-General Fabrication (over 1 tonne)

This growing manufacturer of steam locomotives are currently over-capacity and are looking for a new supplier to assist with the manufacture of 2 off full-size water tanks. The tank capacities are 4600 gallons of water and 9 tonnes of coal and are to be formed of mild steel sheet metal in 6mm and 10mm thicknesses (or imperial measurement equivalents). The client has provided two options, and has no particular preference when choosing a supplier: 1) provide all the profiled parts unassembled for the client to construct the tanks themselves, or 2) profile all the parts and then assemble before delivery. The sketch drawings are for the 4600 gallon tank parts which is a slight modification to the original 4000 gallon tank design. The assembly drawing is for the original 4000 gallon capacity tank. The increase of 600 gallons capacity is provided by the provision of two additional sumps to the underside of the tank. No leak testing is required if assembly is completed, because additional parts will be added to the tanks by the client before leak tests are performed at a later stage. Due to the nature of these tanks, quality is paramount regardless of which of the two options is undertaken. There is an immediate order to place with other work available once a relationship is established.

  20. Drawings count: 5

    Casting-Sand Casting

This company would like to hear from companies who can cast the attached bearing housings and covers which are to be used within industrial machinery in the paper, pulp and energy industry. Parts are to be cast from Ductile iron and grey cast iron in quantities of 4 off housings and 2 off each of the covers. Good value pricing is of most importance for these parts. This is a one-off requirement at this time but could lead to similar work in future.
