Our move has already paid dividends, as a new skilled C.N.C. programmer / setter has been found. - His name is Arthur, and we are sure he will turn into a very valuable asset.

Manufacturing rises to three-year high signalling solid start to the second quarter.
After a slack final quarter in 2016, Qimtek’s contract manufacturing index rose by 11% from 147 to a respectable 163. Continuing the trend, the index for April, and retrospectively the beginning of Q2, shows a value of 172 - an increase of 5.5% when compared to the first quarter.

Subcontracting manufacturing proves resilient
After a slack final quarter in 2017, the subcontract manufacturing market seems to be shrugging off concerns about Brexit. The Market is up 11% in Q1 vs the previous quarter and up by 5% in comparison to the previous year.

Market up 11% in Q1 on previous quarter and up by 5% on previous year
After a slack final quarter in 2017, the subcontract manufacturing market seems to be shrugging off concerns about Brexit
The value of the UK contract and subcontract market rose by nearly 11% in the first quarter of 2017 compared to the final quarter of 2016, according to the latest Qimtek Contract Manufacturing Index (CMI) figures.
The index for the first quarter of 2017 was 163, compared to 147 in the final quarter of 2016.

Great British Bake Off helps raise ETG sales
In what would be an unlikely ally when two industries collide, Engineering Technology Group (ETG) has received a £750,000 boost from houseware manufacturer, What More UK, who has seen demand for products soar since the popular baking show aired last year.
ETG had been requested to supply three Quaser VMC machining centres for What More, who hope to increase capacity, reduce production time and improve their ability to handle large progression tools with the introduction of the systems.

Strong start to 2017 for British automotive sector
New figures, released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), have shown that the British automotive sector experienced its best January for 12 years.
With a year-on-year increase of 2.9%, statistics outline that 174,564 new vehicles left car show rooms last month – the highest since 2005. However, that’s not all; the report also highlighted that the alternatively fuelled vehicles sector grew by almost 20%.

UK Industrial Strategy: 10 key points
Speaking at the launch of a Green Paper – a document outlining the government’s industrial strategy thinking – Prime Minister Theresa May said the UK is set for a “new approach” to support and promote manufacturing.
The proposed strategy lists “10 strategic pillars”:

Donald Trump: I’ll do a deal with Britain
In a new interview with MP Michael Gove for The Times newspaper, Mr Trump has “nothing but praise” for Theresa May, and commended the Brexit vote as a demonstration that British people “want their own identity.”
Speaking of the possibility of trade deals, the President-elect, whose inauguration will take place on 20th January, told Mr Gove: “We’re gonna work very hard to get it done quickly and done properly. Good for both sides.”
