The South West Regional Development Agency (RDA) has selected J P Kenny, part of international energy services company John Wood Group PLC, as its engineering and management contractor for the project.
The RDA is leading the development of Wave Hub, which will create the world's largest wave energy farm 10 miles off the north coast of Cornwall.

Small and medium-sized manufacturers are cutting staff for the first time in eighteen months, as demand for UK made goods at home and abroad weakens in the global economic slowdown, a CBI survey out today shows.
The CBI s latest quarterly SME Trends survey found that 17% of small and medium-sized businesses had expanded their workforce in the last three months, while 29% had reduced the numbers they employed. The resulting balance of -13% represents the biggest quarterly fall in employment since October 2003, down from July s figure of +6%.

Rolls-Royce, a world leader in marine solutions, has won a £96 million contract to provide power and propulsion equipment, including four gas turbines, for two of the world's largest warships - the UK s new 65,000 tonne aircraft carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales.
The order is an important milestone in the Rolls-Royce marine business strategy of being a major supplier of integrated power and propulsion systems for naval and commercial ships.

We are proud to have been chosen by the Institute of Civil Engineering, to fabricate a 1/10th scale model of a twin tower, cable stay suspension bridge.
The whole assembly will easily dismantle into 20 seperate sections, and will be used by the Institute to tour schools in the midlands to promote civil engineering to the younger generations. The children play an active role in the setting out and construction of the bridge and learn about basic engineering principles along the way.

Siemens Energy and consortium partner Prysmian Cables & Systems, have been awarded an order worth approximately EUR 87 million by Thanet Offshore Wind Ltd. to connect the Thanet offshore wind farm to the British power grid. Generating enough electricity to power over 167,000 homes, the wind farm with an installed capacity of 300 megawatts (MW) will be constructed in the North Sea, eleven kilometers off the coast of Kent, the wind farm will have its connection to the grid ready for operation in the summer of 2009.
