Black Country manufacturing specialist Cube Precision Engineering is investing in a multi-axis CNC milling centre to help it deliver £2m of new orders from automotive and aerospace clients.
The company, which can handle single op prototype tooling to complex multi-stage tooling suites, has spent £300,000 on a new MTE BF3200 that will boost capacity at its Rowley Regis facility and support development of low to medium volume.

Galvanizers hit the road

With a £105,000 investment in two new articulated lorries, Corbetts the Galvanizers now collects and delivers 95% of material using its own vehicles.
Boosted by a recent £300,000 contract haul, the company, which specialises in hot dip galvanised parts, purchased two MAN TGX articulated lorries to take its fleet of vehicles to 10 artics, 3 rigids and 25 trailers - all complete with the firm’s new corporate identity.

A leading specialist in the design and manufacture of one-off and low-volume parts has installed three high-specification machines from TRUMPF, including a five-axis TruLaser Cell 7020 fiber. Birmingham Prototypes Ltd (BPL) has located all three machines at its new 20,000 sq ft facility in Birmingham, where they are helping the company keep pace with an expanding order book for sectors such as automotive and aerospace.

Two hundred years after his death, the University of Glasgow is commemorating the passing of James Watt by officially renaming its School of Engineering after him.
The news that the University will now be home to the James Watt School of Engineering has been welcomed by Debbie Beales, of the University’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing Unit, who recently discovered that her family line leads six generations back directly to James Watt.

Stainless Metalcraft has acquired the trade and some assets of Jordan Manufacturing, a supplier of manufacturing services the nuclear, industrial and oil & gas markets.
Jordan Manufacturing, which was part of the Redhall Group, went into administration on 17 June, with all employees being made redundant. The trade and selected assets will now be integrated into Metalcraft’s operations in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire.
