CompoTech PLUS (Stand N102) will exhibit its innovative automated carbon composite processing technologies and components at Advanced Engineering UK.

The company applies fresh thinking to finding innovative structural design solutions to improve performance and productivity. In addition to supplying custom made fabricated components, customers are able to use its innovative process technologies under licence, supplied and installed by CompoTech as a complete automated system, with full service and support.

The experienced team of PhD level engineers works closely with OEMs and automated technology partners to provide innovative carbon composite machine tool and automation solutions as an alternative to steel and aluminium to reduce weight, increase stiffness, improve damping and significantly increase productivity, while reducing overall manufacturing costs.

CompoTech has proprietary AFP (automated fibre placement) production, 3D printed tooling and CNC machining facilities, along with in-house process development and design engineering expertise. These extensive capabilities enables CompoTech to create and manufacture a wide variety of standard and bespoke lightweight, vibration-damped, carbon fibre epoxy composite components.

Successful projects being showcased at Advanced Engineering 2022 include:

  • New design heavy parts handling industrial robot arm manipulator, designed with high strength ILT joint bushings that connect the CFRP wound tubular arm sections.
  • Carbon composite-metal hybrid milling disc tool, which improves machining time by 78%.
  • Carbon epoxy composite tubular telescopic mast system. The versatile, high strength telescopic design is currently used in a marine mast for a concept ‘inflatable’ wing sail and for mobile police surveillance vehicles.

Head of Business Development, Dr Humphrey Carter, is giving a presentation at 10:20am on day 2 of the show covering the opportunities and advantages for carbon composites in machine tools and industrials applications.

CompoTech is also being featured as part of the ‘Innovation Trail’ at Advanced Engineering.  Innovation tours for visitors will be running across both days of the show to learn more about the products and solutions offered by the selected companies.

The knowledge and expertise gained by from the innovative process developments and components produced by CompoTech, now used in industrial machines and automation systems, is transferrable to other market sectors such as: aerospace, agriculture, marine, defence, automotive, bicycles, mass transport and hydrogen storage.
