Search and rescue boosts business

Arlington Aerospace division North West Precision Ltd (NWP) has been boosted with the award of a search and rescue contract for a special operations aircraft.

The award of the cover assembly contract for the Hawker U125A was made up of 30 aircraft sets.

Mark Franckel, Group CEO of NWP, said: “NWP continues to go from strength to strength. We’re not just delighted with this contract, but also that our manufacturing is being used to help save people’s lives.”

The current aluminium frames and hatch covers of the aircraft are being used for spares as part of NWP customers’ on going, long-term ‘life of aircraft’ contracts.

The Hawker is a special mission aircraft for search and rescue and maritime patrol missions and is used by the militaries of Japan, USA and their allies.

Using radar and thermal imaging to support ground operations, the Hawker U125A aircraft locates people in need of rescue, before using a life raft drop-system.

Arlington Aerospace prides itself on being a single point of contact for the whole aerospace design and manufacturing process from design and concept through to manufacturing and aftercare at its various locations across the UK.

Last year the firm, which is part of Arlington Group Industries, acquired EDV UK, a precision rotary tooling manufacturer, to strengthen its business and the services it offers its customers.

This followed the acquisition of NWP of Birkenhead, which specialises in supplying fasteners, cutting tools and aircraft components to the likes of Airbus, Hawker Beechcraft and BAE Systems.
