Procurement consultancy Vendigital has appointed a highly-experienced aerospace industry expert and tech entrepreneur to further strengthen its team of sector specialists.

With over 20 years’ experience in the aerospace and defence sector, Ian Joesbury is a vice president of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and director of Advanced Laser Technology Ltd, a business that manufactures large 3D printers for metal components and laser cleaning systems. He is also a non-executive director of Oxsensis, a technology business that makes high-performance optical sensors for jet engines and other advanced equipment. In a former role at Meggitt plc, Ian led its Polymers & Composites division, working internationally and delivering a number of high-value programmes.

At Vendigital, Ian Joesbury will be advising the firm’s growing corporate client base on how to adapt their operating structures, internationally and domestically, to take advantage of the latest emerging technologies and strengthen their market position. His expertise in developing and implementing global procurement strategies in the aerospace industry is particularly relevant in the current marketplace.

Roy Williams, managing director at Vendigital, said: “Ian brings just the right combination of high-level skills to the business with his hands-on knowledge of big programme management and experience of running complex, international operations. His technological insights in areas such as automation and robotics, and 3D printing, are also extremely valuable at a time when many aerospace companies and other advanced manufacturing businesses are considering investments that could create a new paradigm for competitive advantage in the future.

“Ian’s skills and experience will complement our expanding team of industrial sector specialists, under the leadership of the firm’s head of industry, Michael Minall.”

Commenting on his role at Vendigital, Ian Joesbury said: “I am very pleased to be joining this dynamic management consultancy, which has an impressive corporate client base. I am looking forward to working alongside like-minded professionals who really understand the issues that high-value manufacturing businesses are experiencing and the challenging decisions that lie ahead.”
