The use of boron and formaldehyde donor biocides in metalworking fluids are not only restricted in certain European countries they are constituents that an increasing number of manufacturers choose to avoid. To meet this growing need, Master Fluid Solutions has been at the forefront of developing a family of products that are free from these biocides yet retain the performance quality that is characteristic of the brand.
The latest addition to this range is TRIM® C116, an ultra-low foaming, general-purpose fluid for cutting, grinding and other high pressure applications. It has been specifically developed for working with cast iron and mild steels, for which it provides excellent corrosion inhibition, but is also compatible with plastics and composites.
Excellent wetting characteristics keep grinding wheels clean, allowing chips to be efficiently flushed away from the process. This, together with effective workpiece cooling ensures minimal burning throughout the grinding operation. With TRIM® C116, machines remain clean and protected with a light, fluid film.
Water-clear as a working solution and with a very low chemical odour, this new Master Fluid Solutions product provides very good tramp oil rejection and excellent biostability. Indeed, one of its European testers was a manufacturer of cutting blades and it confirmed that a key benefit of TRIM® C116 over its existing grinding fluid was the elimination of fungal problems.
