Midlands to drive £34bn worth of productivity and growth

Last week, Birmingham University unveiled plans to make the Midlands an “engine of growth”, with focus on innovation, skills and transport.

The Midlands is an area that has seen private sector employment grow over three times faster than London and the South East, and is clearly playing a strong role in the recovery of the UK economy. It is thought that if the region was to match predicted growth for the UK over the next 15 years, it’s possible that 300,000 jobs could be created and a further £34bn added to the economy.
