Jaguar Land Rover named largest car manufacturer in Britain

After being named Britain’s best place to work, Jaguar Land Rover has also become the largest automotive manufacturer in country, producing 1.5 million cars last year.

The announcement was made that the company has had its best year in a decade, with executive director of manufacturing, Wolfgang Stadler, explaining “Britain is the beating heart of our business, so becoming the country’s largest vehicle manufacturer is a remarkable achievement, demonstrating our steadfast commitment to the UK manufacturing sector.”

FANUC unveils second ‘cobot’

FANUC UK has announced the launch of its latest collaborative robot which has the ability to lift payloads of up to 7kg.

Collaborative robots – cobots – provide the benefit of handling heavy materials without the need for industrial barriers due to their protective functions. FANUC believe the CR-7iA will function best completing strenuous, routine jobs, of which will be demonstrated at the MACH Show in April this year.

Trumpf UK ‘cautiously optimistic’ about UK manufacturing market

Trumpf UK’s new managing director, Annette Doyle, has said she is ‘cautiously optimistic’ about the future for the company in 2016, highlighting that they are on track for another good year.

The manufacturer has recently been demonstrating the cutting capabilities of its TruLaser 5030 Fiber using an 8kW disk laser source. The system has been cutting 40mm thick stainless steel, a first for the UK in terms of thickness. This is just one area they are now working on, highlighting the importance of R&D within the UK manufacturing industry.
