Extrusion is a process which is used to produce profiles which are cross-sectionally consistent across the entire length. This is achieved by forcing material through a die resembling the required cross-dimensional design.
Extrusion can be performed using cold material; however, most commonly, the material is heated to make it more malleable and easier to work with. A range of materials can be used within the extrusion process such as aluminium (the most commonly-used material), plastic, copper, brass, steel, lead, tin and even titanium.
