Car Makers send British Industry into Pole Position

Resilient British manufacturers are firing on all cylinders thans to a turbo charged automotive sector.

A 10,000 unit jump in car output helped rev factory production to its highest level since 2001, the Office for National Statistics said.

The figures come despite a soaring pound, which is close to 26-year highs against the US dollar.

More than half of britain's trade is with the euro zone.
