Poole-based Aerotech Precision Manufacturing has invested in key manufacturing equipment worth over £350,000 in order to support and strengthen its involvement in a major defence project.

The new equipment will allow Aerotech to reduce lead times and supply the required components within a AS9100 quality controlled environment.

Allan Redfern, sales director at Aerotech, said: “This project is significant for us as it demonstrates the expertise and capability Aerotech has in delivering precision engineered high quality components to the Defence sector. The investment in new equipment we have made signifies our commitment to not only this project but also in our goal to become one of the UK’s leading precision manufacturing sub-contractors.”

Aerotech has invested in a new 5–Axis machine from Doosan alongside a new large co-ordinate measuring machine.

Aerotech has been manufacturing machined parts for the defence project since 2013. To date it has supplied over 170 kits to defence systems specialist, Aish Technologies, for further processing onto the final customer, a key defence contractor.
