Composites expertise

Cambridge-based composites manufacturer, Forward Composites, has manufactured carbon fibre monocoque and panels for the Nio EP9, the innovative new Chinese electric supercar .

The Nio EP9 set the new record for the fastest ever self-driven lap at the Circuit of the Americas Race Track (COTA) in Austin, Texas, US, with a time of two minutes and eleven seconds.

Aside from its automotive expertise, Forward Composites is perhaps based known for its work on the 92m Airlander 10 hybrid aircraft.

The giant aircraft, nicknamed the "flying bum" because of its curved hull, plummeted into the ground during its second flight last August.

Forward Composites assisted with the design, engineering, tooling and components for the Airlander's cockpit area, following its crash landing.

The company provides a comprehensive end-to-end design, engineering and composite manufacturing service to the aerospace, defence, automotive and motorsport industries.
