A group of British manufacturers have collaborated to launch a new range of artisanal, hand-spun copper pans, in a move that champions domestic craftsmanship and supports 130 UK manufacturing jobs.
The Heritage Excell Copper Cookware Collection, meticulously crafted in Britain, brings together expertise from a specialist metal spinner, a leather and automotive interiors manufacturer, and an engineering firm known for making both traditional and contemporary cookers.
The collection, which has been tested by Channel 4’s Gill Meller and Michelin-starred chef Gary Pearce, is almost exclusively produced by members of the esteemed Made in Britain trademark.
Among the Made in Britain members involved are Excell Metal Spinning, responsible for the pan bases and handles; The Tuning Shop, which crafts the leather inlays; and ESSE Engineering Ltd, which conducted testing and development. Packaging is supplied by Bladen Box & Display and Roach Bridge Tissues.
Curtis Bligh, Head of Marketing Communications for Excell Metal Spinning, highlighted the significance of the project: “The Heritage range of artisanal pans from Excell Metal Spinning is actively supporting 130 UK manufacturing jobs. Of the eight leading UK manufacturers involved in crafting the robust range of chef’s pans, frying pans, sauce pans and accessories, five of them are proud members of Made in Britain. In fact, we expressly looked at the Made in Britain membership directory to find manufacturers to get on board with.
“Importantly, every aspect of this is totally sourced and made in Britain. This is a collective of British manufacturers coming together to produce a unique product.
“The Made in Britain accreditation gives us a tangible advantage in a very competitive market. It underpins that we’re perceived as high quality, entirely ethical in our practice, and innately sustainable in what we do. That's what that Made in Britain mark really stands for: it really means something, and that’s why we have it laser-engraved onto our exclusive new range of celebrity-chef approved pans.”
The range’s performance and durability were rigorously assessed by Gary Pearce, head chef at the Michelin-recommended restaurant 36 on the Quay, and renowned chef and cookery teacher Gill Meller. The pans, which heat evenly up to 220°C, are made of 100% copper and finished with a non-stick tin lining—delivering exceptional results for even the most demanding cooks.
Alix Eltringham, Marketing Manager at ESSE Engineering Ltd, explained: ““If you’re going to launch a pan nowadays, it needs to work with any type of hob technology. That’s why Excell Metal Spinning recruited ESSE to test this robust range of artisanal pans - ensuring that the full range is compatible with both induction hobs and cast iron hobs. They have performed excellently and are compatible with ESSE’s hob and oven cooking technology.”
John Pearce, CEO of Made in Britain, added: “This collaboration is exactly what the Made in Britain mark is here to spark. When members work together under a trusted national trademark, they create not just exceptional products but measurable commercial value, giving buyers instant confidence, stronger pricing power and a clear competitive advantage on global shelves. It is also a practical route to a more productive economy, keeping value and skilled jobs in the UK through shared capability and proven provenance. The Heritage range is a testament to the Made in Britain’s trademark’s growing community of manufacturers and it shows what happens when British manufacturing backs itself, and backs each other.”
