Market Opportunities and Investments
Accenture, DG Growth, European Investment Bank, and Roland Berger will kick off the symposium and highlight market potential opportunities, investigate what attracts investment in the digital economy and how companies must adapt to competitive challenges.
Value Chain and Ecosystem
Synopsis, BMW, STMicroelectronics, Siemens Healthcare, Schneider Electric, Gemalto, ASML, Robert Bosch, GreenWaves Technologies, Unico ViLynx, Recif, Sentronics metrology, and TU/ecomotive, University of Eindhoven, will look at some of the value chains that support key thematic areas of the new economy such as mobility, medtech, manufacturing and security. Industry players will investigate how the ecosystems create new capability through advanced collaborative R, D&I, and how those must exploit the technology to gain maximum commercial benefit. The role of public funding in catalyzing this approach will be discussed.
Disruptive Technology Issues - Where are we going?
Intel, Sense Reply, Microtronic, Cadence, DG Connect and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center will delve into the importance and risks of disruptive innovation. New applications, systems and products offer radically different approaches to “conventional” supply chains. Europe must be alert to these changes and either exploit new opportunities or adapt current industrial approaches to remain competitive. A very topical subject in this area is Artificial Intelligence.
Spotlight on Diversity and Inclusion
A diverse, highly skilled workforce is crucial to the industry’s ability to innovate and remain competitive amidst digital disruption. Francoise Chombar, CEO, Melexis, Kevin Crofton, Corporate EVP of Orbotech and President, SPTS Technologies and Michael Reeve, General Manager EMEA Semiconductor, Edwards will discuss why diversity and inclusion play an important role in fostering a workplace culture that enables higher levels of productivity, creativity, profitability, and innovation.
Panel Discussion: strategies for competing globally, trends in electronics innovation, and challenges of the digital economy.
Moderated by Gerd Teepe, T3-Technologies, the panel will debate how to leverage private-, venture- and public-stakeholders to expand the European semiconductor ecosystem.
