International high precision event, the EPHJ-EPMT-SMT Show, returns to Palexpo, Geneva, on 18 to 21 June.

The event is recognized worldwide for the quality of exhibiting companies and for the diversity of innovations presented. Leading players from three sectors (watchmaking, jewelry, micro-technologies and medtech) will present their products and services to some 20 000 professional visitors from 5 continents. It will feature more than 800 exhibitors from 18 countries.

Fostering innovation and encouraging entrepreneurship is more than an aspiration at EPHJ-EPMT-SMT. Having managed to bring together watchmaking know-how, micro-technologies and medical technologies and creating a start-up hub in 2017, in 2018 it launched the first Watch Medtech Innovation challenge, in collaboration with the Inartis Foundation.

The objective of this challenge is to find, support and work with new transdisciplinary projects. Companies active in the field of watchmaking can take advantage of their know-how to diversify into the medtech sector. There were 365 in 2018. But this evolution is not so simple; "You have to turn the idea into reality," says Alexandre Catton, director of EPHJ-EPMT-SMT. The desire for diversification can exist among our exhibitors, what is lacking the most it is often the means and the support to achieve it. This challenge meets this expectation and shows that new potentials exist. It will be renewed in 2019.”

Innovation is celebrated at the EPHJ-EPMT-SMT Exhibitors' Grand Prix. Winners not only receive a free module they also benefit from a high profile and media exposure.

Former winners of the Grand Prix acknowledge this. Winner in 2018, the SY & SE start-up won over the jury with a new revolutionary technology for assembling materials, without glue or welding: ICB (Impulse Current Bonding). A breakthrough innovation that promises a bright future. Who will succeed them in 2019?
