Plastics award winners

The Plastics Industry Awards 2025 have recognised a diverse group of companies and individuals for their contributions to sustainability, technology, and product excellence.

Engel made history by winning the Supplier Partnership Injection Moulding Award for two separate collaborations. Its work with Bentley Motors and Summit Systems focused on lightweighting automotive interior panels, while its partnership with Notpla advanced biopolymer packaging solutions. The Supplier Partnership Auxiliary Award was won by TH Plastics and Counterplas, and the Supplier Partnership Toolmaker Award went to Ad-Vance Engineering and RLC Group (Aerospace Engineering).

A new category for 2025, the Polyurethane Innovation Award, was awarded to the Latvian State Institute of Wood Chemistry, ArianeGroup GmbH, European Space Agency ESTEC, and MT Aerospace for their sustainable cryogenic PUR foam insulation, designed for liquefied hydrogen tanks on space rockets. The Sustainable Extrusion Technology Award went to Flexipol Packaging, Plasmac, and UK Extrusion for pioneering in-house recycling and reuse of industrial scrap using the Plasmac Alpha S Plus re-pelletiser.

Greyparrot won Sustainable Product Design of the Year for its Analyser Unit, which leverages computer vision to identify materials more efficiently than manual sampling or energy-intensive AI methods. The Material Innovation Award was presented to Matrix Medical Materials, Matrix Plastics, and KraussMaffei.

Amcor CleanStream Leamington Spa was named Recycler of the Year for its CleanStream® process, which transforms household PP waste into contact-sensitive packaging. The Best Training & Development Programme was awarded to the British Plastics Federation for its comprehensive Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) initiative.

Recognising Individual Excellence Miklos Argyelan of Amcor (Rigid Packaging Solutions International) received the Apprentice or Trainee Award, along with a £500 prize from the PMMDA. The Unsung Hero Award went to Darren Burton of IPL Global. Colin Tirel, Managing Director of Arburg Limited, was honoured as Plastics Industry Ambassador for four decades of service, while Karen Laird received a special tribute as the retiring founding editor of Sustainable Plastics.

International Scientific Supplies (ISS) earned the prestigious Processor of the Year Award for excellence in business growth, technology innovation, environmental stewardship, and community involvement. Plastek UK was recognised for Best Business Initiative
