Pressworking specialist HT Brigham and Co has strengthened its capabilities with a strategic equipment upgrade.
The Coleshill-based manufacturer has refurbished the 250-ton Rhodes progression press to enhance its manufacturing capabilities and increase capacity.
This investment follows the management buyout completed in 2022 and forms part of a wider strategy focused on data-led decision-making and ongoing performance analysis.
The Rhodes progression press, known for its role in high-volume, multi-stage forming operations, will enable HT Brigham to run more complex metal forming processes with improved consistency, reduced downtime, and greater flexibility. The refurbishment is expected to extend the operational life of the machine and support future production requirements.
Chief Executive Doug Allen, whose background includes aerospace manufacturing, outlined the company's approach: “At the core of our Brigham Operating System (BOS) is the understanding that for our people to thrive – and they are the bedrock of our success – we must provide them with the optimal environment and the best tools.” Allen emphasised that this principle underpins the company’s focus on creating a positive work environment, which in turn supports optimised processes and the achievement of organisational goals.
The decision to invest in the Rhodes press refurbishment comes at a time of increasing customer demand for reliability, flexibility, and consistent throughput in high-volume pressing applications. The upgraded press is intended to help the company maintain supply chain continuity and production reliability, which are essential in sectors such as automotive, white goods, and yellow goods.
HT Brigham’s experience spans over 75 years, evolving from a small workshop in Perry Barr to a facility capable of supplying clients globally. The company’s reputation is built on precision and dependability, traits that have guided its growth and adaptation to changing industry needs. The Rhodes press refurbishment reflects a commitment to combining traditional manufacturing expertise with ongoing innovation, allowing for scalable production while maintaining tight tolerances in demanding environments.
