Tata Technologies, a global product engineering and digital services company, is to scale up its West Midlands operations and create of around 350 jobs in the region.
The company says that this marks its commitment to develop and leverage the next generation of digital capability and talent in the West Midlands through strategic collaboration with the University of Wolverhampton and the University of Warwick to establish Centres of Excellence for Cybersecurity, FUSA (Functional Safety for Automotive) and AUTOSAR (Automotive Open System Architecture).
Located in Leamington Spa (Tachbrook Park), Tata Technologies’ European Innovation and Development Centre (EIDC) serves as the organisation’s European Headquarters delivering engineering and digital solutions across the automotive, aerospace and industrial machinery sectors in European, US and Asia-Pacific markets. It houses engineering support services, two advanced engineering labs and an R&D centre.
The plans were announced to coincide with a visit by West Midlands mayor Andy Street’s to the site, where discussions centred on Tata Technologies’ pledge to develop a diverse and inclusive workforce in the region, supported by its initiative - Rainbow, driven across the organization. The visit featured a display of the latest technologies in electric and autonomous vehicles being engineered in the West Midlands, which are expected to shape the future of the automotive industry.
Speaking on the occasion, Warren Harris, MD and CEO of Tata Technologies, said: “Tata Technologies’ European Innovation and Development Centre is a key delivery centre for Tata Technologies Europe and is the biggest centre out of India with approximately 650 employees in the UK. Through partnerships with educational institutions, we aim to provide training, resources and job opportunities to individuals looking to enter or advance in these fields while also fostering innovation and growth in the mobility industry.
