Report reveals huge growth for UK STEM careers

According to a new from by the Social Market Foundation and EDF, jobs in the STEM industries are expected to grow at double the rate of other occupations.

The study was commissioned as part of the ‘Pretty Curious’ campaign, which aims to change the perception of science, technology, engineering and maths subjects among young people, especially women. It reported that 142,000 jobs would be created between now and 2023, as demand for technology skills continues to rise.

Getting more young women to consider a STEM career is thought to be essential to the success of the UK’s industrial strategy, but will the new programme help?
