JLR boasts record sales in July

Jaguar Land Rover has reported its best ever July retails sales, with figures up 34% to 44,486.

Strong sales have boosted the manufacturers’ total over the 335,000 mark in the first seven months of 2016, with Brexit making no impact on demand for premium luxury cars. Andy Goss, sales operations director, said: “This has been another record month for Jaguar Land Rover with impressive sales across both of our brands…reflecting the global appeal of our strongest ever vehicle line up”.

China warns of ‘crucial juncture’ over Hinkley delay

Writing in the Financial Times, Liu Xiaoming, Chinese ambassador to the UK, has said the delay in the Hinkley Point nuclear project could threaten the relationship between the two countries.

He hinted that “mutual trust” could be in jeopardy if the government decides not to approve the deal, with China currently expected to fund around a third of the £18bn project. The ambassador outlines what he believes are the benefits of a nuclear power station in the UK and that he hopes the door will be kept open to China.
