On the way up for UK manufacturing

The FT reported today that manufacturing in the UK rebounded from a weak start to the year, expanding in March at its fastest monthly pace in 10 months.

The Office for National Statistics said that manufacturing output, which makes up about 15 per cent of UK gross domestic product, rose by 0.6 per cent between February and March. This was the sharpest increase since May 2006 and was the result of an improvement across most manufacturing sectors, particularly machinery and equipment, which climbed by 1.2 per cent.
