How we use information that we collect:

When you contact Qimtek, we keep a record of your communication to help resolve any issues you might be facing. We may use your email address to keep you informed of any upcoming changes or improvements to our services.

Google Analytics:

Our website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google").
We use the information to compile reports and to help us to improve the website. The cookies collect information in an anonymous form, including the number of visitors to the website and blog, how visitors have been directed to the website and the pages they visited.

Further information about Google’s privacy policy may be obtained from Google Analytics Terms of Service.

You can opt out of sending your data to Google by using this tool.

Google AdWords:

We use Google AdWords Remarketing to advertise Qimtek across the Internet - in particular, on the Google Display Network.

AdWords Remarketing will display ads to you based on which parts of the Qimtek website you have viewed. It does this by placing a cookie in your web browser.

This cookie does not in any way identify you, or give access to your computer or mobile device.

The cookie is used to indicate to other websites that you, as an anonymous individual, have visited a particular page and therefore, ads should be displayed that relate to the aforementioned page.

Google AdWords Remarketing allows us to tailor our marketing to better suit your needs and only display ads that are relevant to you.

If you do not wish to see ads from Qimtek, you can opt out in several ways:

  1. Opt out of Google’s use of cookies by visiting Google’s Ad Settings.
  2. Opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

Lead Forensic

Contained within our website is tracking code provided by Lead Forensics. This code enables Lead Forensics to track activity on the website and provide us with information on the IP address of the requesting computer (this data is not anonymised), the date and duration of the user’s visit, and the web pages which the user visits.

The Lead Forensics tool uses IP tracking for identifying businesses and is not the same as cookies. The Lead Forensics tracking code only provides information that is readily available in the public domain. It does not, and cannot, provide individual, personal or sensitive data regarding who has visited our website. It provides information on what companies have visited our website by identifying them from their IP address. This data may be used by us to contact the business about their experience or for marketing purposes. We will not pass this data to third parties for any reason. More information can be found at www.leadforensics.com

Transparency and choice:

You may also set your browser to block all cookies, including cookies associated with our services. You can also choose to be notified when a cookie is being set by us. However, it’s important to remember that many of our services may not function properly if your cookies are disabled. For example, we may not remember your language preferences.

For more information on cookies, please visit our Cookie Policy document.

Information that you share:

Many of our services let you share information with others. Remember that when you share information publicly, it may be indexable by search engines, including Google. Our services provide you with different options surrounding sharing and removing your content.

Accessing and updating your personal information:

Whenever you use our services, we aim to provide you with access to your personal information. If that information is wrong, we strive to give you ways to update it quickly, or to delete it – unless we have to keep that information for legitimate business or legal purposes.

We aim to maintain our services in a manner that protects information from accidental or malicious destruction. Because of this, after you delete information from our services, we may not immediately delete residual copies from our active servers and may not remove information from our backup systems.

Information that we share:

...to provide our service:

When you post a project to our site, send project information to one of our sourcing advisors via email, or provide project information via telephone, we will publish the project details to our Qimtek supplier members. This includes a description of the project, any relevant technical drawings, the buyer member contact details (including the name of the buyer, telephone and email address) and the organisation's contact details.

When you create a supplier profile, we will publish the approved profile on our website. This includes the organisation contact details, the allocated contact person’s name, telephone number, and the organisation’s capabilities based on the information you have provided.

...for legal reasons:

We will share personal information with companies, organisations, or individuals outside of Qimtek if we believe in good faith that access, use, preservation or disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to:

  • meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request.
  • enforce applicable Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations.
  • detect, prevent or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues.
  • protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Google, our users, or the public, as required and permitted by law.

We may share non-personally identifiable information publicly and with our partners, such as publishers, advertisers, or connected sites. For example, we may share information publicly to show trends regarding the general use of our services.

Storage methods and duration:

Qimtek may store your information in its databases, such as its customer relationship database, for reference purposes. The information may be retained and used by Qimtek for a reasonable period, reflecting our need to answer queries or resolve problems, provide improved and new services, and to satisfy any data retention requirements of the law. This means we may retain information after an individual ceases to use Qimtek’s services, or after the individual has ceased interacting with Qimtek. Except where the law, authorities or regulatory bodies require a longer retention period, we retain traffic data for a reasonable timeframe following the generation of said data.

We keep financial information for up to 7 years to comply with financial regulations.

Most other data, such emails, drawings related to projects, and log data, is kept for two years.

Passing your information to others within your own organisation:

If your employer has subscribed to Qimtek’s services on your behalf, then we may pass certain information to your employer about your use of the service, if your employer has a legitimate reason to receive it. Similarly, if you are your organisation’s assigned point of contact for the service, we may pass your contact details to those within your organisation for this purpose.

Passing your information to third parties:

Except where the law permits, or unless you specifically agree, Qimtek does not sell or rent your personal data to others outside of Qimtek.

We do pass browser data to Google Analytics to help us to improve our services, as well as to create targeted adverts through Google’s network. This is achieved by using cookies. For more information on how we do this and how to avoid sharing this data with us, please see our Cookies Policy page.

Interception of mail:

Qimtek may intercept email addressed to individuals within Qimtek. The reasons we do this are related to the security of Qimtek, its staff and others, for detection and prevention of crime and to identify correct recipients, or to ensure that mail is dealt with during staff absence. We may reject, delay or remove content from emails which have a nature, content or attachment that may disrupt our systems or because they may pose security issues such as viruses. We may also filter out emails which contain certain content on the basis that content is offensive, or that the email is unwanted or spam. In certain circumstances, this may unfortunately result in ‘innocent’ emails being affected, although we do try to reduce such occurrences.

Security:

Qimtek has developed strict policies governing information technology. These cover areas such as access control, authentication, audit, monitoring, alarms, data storage, backup & transmission standards and environment integrity. We have appropriate security measures in place within our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you at our site.

Questions:

If you have any questions surrounding Qimtek’s privacy/data protection policy, or the use of data within a particular service, you should contact [email protected]. The law allows you to request to see and correct the information held on you, although this may require payment of a reasonable fee.
