About Advanced Innovative Manufacturing Ltd

Advanced Innovative Manufacturing (AIM) is a UK-based precision engineering and subcontract manufacturing company based in Lichfield, Staffordshire. We specialise in manufacturing complex, close-tolerance components using simultaneous 5-axis CNC machining, CNC milling, precision turning, wire EDM and in-house CMM inspection.

What differentiates AIM is our engineering-led, digitally controlled and fully traceable manufacturing approach. Every component is reviewed before production to establish the optimum machining strategy, workholding, tooling and inspection route. Manufacturing, inspection and quality records are managed through one controlled process, providing traceability from material batch and drawing revision through to final inspection and release.

By bringing CNC milling, turning, wire EDM and dimensional inspection together under one roof, AIM can reduce external handovers and maintain greater control over quality, lead time and repeatability. Our in-house CNC CMM capability supports first-off, in-process and final inspection, together with dimensional reporting and First Article Inspection documentation where required.

We support everything from one-off development components and prototypes through to bridge manufacturing, low- and medium-volume production and scheduled repeat batches. AIM works with customers across aerospace, defence, UAV and autonomous systems, energy and power, automotive and motorsport, industrial equipment and other advanced engineering sectors.

Our machining capabilities cover aluminium, carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, tool steels, cast iron, copper alloys, titanium and specialist alloys, as well as engineering plastics, subject to technical review.

Manufacturing Services

5-Axis CNC Machining
Simultaneous 5-axis machining for complex, multi-face and three-dimensional components. Fewer setups help maintain critical feature relationships, improve repeatability and enable efficient production of demanding geometries. AIM can accommodate 5-axis components up to approximately Ø500 × 350 mm, subject to geometry and workholding.

CNC Milling
Precision 3-axis and large-format CNC milling for housings, plates, structural components, manifolds, tooling, fixtures and other prismatic components. Large-format milling capacity extends to approximately 1,300 × 670 × 625 mm axis travel.

CNC Turning
Precision CNC turning for shafts, bushes, sleeves, housings, flanges and complex rotational components, supporting both bar-fed work and larger chucking requirements. AIM supports bar work and larger turned components depending on geometry and workholding.

Wire EDM / Wire Erosion
Precision wire EDM for intricate profiles, narrow slots, sharp internal features and hardened conductive materials where conventional machining may be difficult. The process produces minimal mechanical cutting force and is particularly suited to delicate, hardened and high-accuracy components.

CMM Inspection & Dimensional Verification
In-house CNC coordinate measurement for first-off, in-process and final inspection. AIM's CMM has a measuring volume of approximately 1,000 × 1,500 × 700 mm and supports repeatable dimensional and geometric inspection against drawing requirements.

First Article Inspection & Quality Documentation
FAI documentation, dimensional inspection results, material traceability and quality records can be provided to agreed customer requirements. Components can be traced through material batch, drawing revision, manufacturing route, inspection and final release.

Prototype & Development Manufacturing
One-off parts, engineering prototypes and development components manufactured using the same controlled machining and inspection processes applied to production work.

Low & Medium-Volume Production
Controlled manufacturing for low- and medium-volume components, bridge production and repeat scheduled batches, with stored manufacturing and inspection routes supporting consistency across repeat orders.

Equipment

AIM operates a modern precision manufacturing facility in Lichfield, with CNC milling, turning, wire EDM and CMM inspection available in-house.

Mazak VARIAXIS i-500 – Simultaneous 5-Axis CNC Machining
For complex multi-face components, intricate geometries and parts requiring high positional accuracy with fewer setups. 5-axis capacity up to approximately Ø500 × 350 mm.

Doosan DNM 6700 – Large-Format CNC Milling
Heavy-duty vertical machining centre for larger prismatic components, housings, manifolds, plates and structural parts, with travels of approximately 1,300 × 670 × 625 mm.

DMG MORI NLX 2500 | 700 – CNC Turning
