FC Laser boosts productivity

Precision laser cutting specialist FC Laser has installed a new 10kW Bystronic fibre optic laser centre to help boost productivity and edge ahead of the competition.

The new machine is capable of cutting materials as thick as 30mm with incredible accuracy and because it's 40% more energy efficient than its predecessor, FC Laser will be able to boost its productivity while reducing its energy costs.

Nuclear boost for DavyMarkham

Sheffield heavy engineering specialist DavyMarkham has secured a £20m contract with sister company Amber Precast to help with the safe decommissioning of nuclear facilities.

Up to 50 jobs are being created at the historic firm as part of the four-year joint venture with Amber Precast to design, test and construct six cubic metre reinforced steel and concrete containers.

Coventry manufacturer set for expansion

Coventry-based manufacturer, the Penso Group, is to continue its rapid development having secured an £11m funding package.

The new funding package from Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks will be used to develop the company's technologies, along with helping to build a new factory which the company plans to build on its present Coventry site this year.

Chris Buckenham, group finance director, Penso, said: “With the understanding of Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, we have a partner who can support us in our ambitious development plans.”

Record growth for Erodex after £3.5m investment

EDM graphite & tooling supplier to the aerospace market Erodex has reported a 20% increase in turnover following a £3.5m investment and expansion into North America.

The company, part of The Erodex Group, stated the growth in its last financial year has been a direct result of the investment, specifically targeted at work within the aerospace and industrial turbine sectors.
