Investment increase in precision engineering

Colombia Metals’ first survey of 2017 shows that investment in precision engineering is at an 18-month high, demonstrating a good outlook for the sector.

The survey also reveals that precision engineers are increasingly optimistic over an increase in sales during the next year.

“A gradual return of confidence has characterised the precision engineering industry since the start of 2017. It is encouraging to see rising expectations of higher sales and investment in growth this year,” said David Stephenson, managing director of Columbia Metals.

Laser engraving expertise for Great War memorial

Working alongside British artist and designer Lee Simmons, laser expert Cutting Technologies has played its part in creating a stunning Great War remembrance sculpture.

Mr Simmons approached Yorkshire-based Cutting Technologies to help out with his latest project, The Great War Memorial sculpture, located on London’s Victoria Street next to Westminster City Hall.

The memorial, which is made up of 82 shards in Sicilian carrara marble, represents each of the employees of Westminster City Council who lost their lives during the conflict.

£1m factory extension to facilitate growth

PP Control & Automation has a new £1m factory extension which aims to double sales from £20m to £40m by 2021.

This further 1,000 sq metres of production space, which has been added to the company’s existing 4,500 sq metre facility in Cheslyn Hay, has been specially created in order to facilitate growth in new technology markets and interest from a wider international customer base.

Armed Forces award for Arlington Automotive
